tonyquoll
Hi, YMCA Sailing Club have confirmed that the ACT Multihull Champs will be on Sat 20th & Sun 21st October 2012. Usually we have a great 14' cat fleet, and a fairly good fleet of faster cats too. A figure 8 course caters for the highly variable winds on Lake Burley Griffin. Found most motels are already booked out; maybe it'll be a huge fleet this year! In our tradition of staying in the cheapest available, this year's pick is the Victor Lodge: http://www.victorlodge.com.au/ Twin room for $116/night, 10 minutes from the sailing club. humungus2
So, just like last year this place sucks to sail. Loads of wind, smooth waters, good compertition. I hate Canberra.
Pointed Reply
Yes a good weekend..........Mick was much too fast in the strong wind but was kept honest by Brother Mark. Many of the skippers had swimming lessons. Sailing was blown out on Sunday due to the strong wind with max gust recorded at 33.9 knots and oscillating in direction. Gary Williams out foxed Marko in the PTs while the Sloop crews on the Windies had a weekend long battle. Great to see the little kids encouraged their dads to "go faster". tonyquoll
Possibly the most fun I've had at a regatta yet! I liked that no matter how well, or how badly, one sailed, there was still close competition and great battles.I strapped a helmet camera to the boat and following are links to 4 Quicktime movies. They are presented here at 320 x 240pixels, in order to reduce file size for the internet.Race 1: 78Mbhttp://www.tonyhastings.com.au/sailing/act%20race1low.mov Race 2: 56Mb.http://www.tonyhastings.com.au/sailing/act%20race2low.mov Race 3 as not filmed, due to a technical issue.Races 4: 69Mb.http://www.tonyhastings.com.au/sailing/act%20race4low.mov Race 5: 103Mbhttp://www.tonyhastings.com.au/sailing/act%20race5low.mov
