Gazereth78
Hi All Simply this - Can i sail a Cat Rigged Windy on the Trap? I have sold my jib and still want to trap. Without getting on and having a go is it possible? Does the Mainsail have enough pull to allow this? Cheers Gazereth78
darcy1945
It has been done and is still done, your weight will be the critical factor, 90 kg you would need 15 kts to stay on the wire.
sando
Hi Gaz, Darcy is right. We have 6 Windies at PKSC Lake Illawarra NSW and when the big black NEsters blow 20+ we often sail cat rigged on trap. Some of the older guys like to depower in the heay stuff. Up wind there is very little difference with or without a jib. In fact I think you can point higher cat rigged on the wire than super sloop. Gazereth78
Thanks Guys Guess i will drag the Orange Peril down to the water and have a go. Spent all of my money refurbishing a H16 so no new sails for the windy for a while. Might try the H16 solo and see how we go too. It will be fun to right by myself. lol See you upside down on the water Gazereth
