genefewings
Hi. Just wondering if anyone knows of a good way to get some sort of polish or coating onto the rough tread part of the fibreglass thats on beach cat decks. Always gets hammered by the sun and soaks up stains because it gets porous from lack of polish or preservation. I tried a buffer but it just gunked up on the rough parts. Any ideas? HooD
put EVA foam over the offending area, softer grippier and far more pleasant to deal with.
knobblyoldjimbo
First clean up using something like 30 Seconds then wipe with Marine Penetrol. If that comes up nice then give it a wipe with Ronstan Gel Coat Protector.
darcy1945
After the clean up, with 30 seconds, use Oxcalic acid to remove oxidised/sun damaged surface, then as per Jimbos advice.
HooD
You do realise there is no such product as "Ronstan Gel Coat Protector" do you perhaps mean the polish?
knobblyoldjimbo
Whatever, something like this - https://www.element119.com/marine.html mine came from Bias and is in an aluminium canister, it is quite thin and you just wipe it on then rub off. I found it's a little like PolyGlow in the low amount of effort you need to do the job. I'll look at the bottle at the weekend, must be from someone else. pjr
I have used a (soft) nail brush in the past for applying a solid paste wax and then placing a rag over it for polishing off , seemed to work !
knobblyoldjimbo
Felton Marine who ever they are. Wipe on, wait till it glazes then rub off.
