cruiser
Does anyone know of an Inter 17 Nacra hidden away that could be dusted off and put to good use? I'm trying to track a second hand one down, as I don't think I could afford a new one from Briscat. Thanks Chocko
Bridgehugger
Hey, Cruiser. One of these days after a few more different brands you will wake up and get a Taipan 4.9, as I did. Try one and take a short cut.
cruiser
There is already an I 17 up here mate. I don't mind the 4.9 Taipan, but if I were to race serious single handers, I think I'd go for an A class. I've never seen the I17 nose dive, they just keep going. If you don't believe me, watch this and see the rocker at work..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQ9R0YEZC2g And they don't even have the spinnaker up. HooD
wow not nose diving on a lake... very impressive... other boats cope OK on a lake too ya know...
Humdinger
Agreed Cruiser, the bow design of the I17/F17 makes it less prone to pitchpoling than other similar cats, but any cat will pitchpole in the wrong hands ... been there, done that! The I17 is a great compromise boat ... a great sail both solo and 2 up. Pity they're not a stronger class. I admit I have a soft spot for the I17 though ... I was the original owner of "179" in the video. Sold due to wife/baby/house etc, but I'm now back in the market as well and looking for another boat. I too would love to see some of the 5.0's, I17's & 5.8's sitting in garages move on to more active lives. I'll keep you posted if I hear of any boats sitting idle!
