Batemans Bay Regatta

Tips

The Clubhouse is found down Hanging Rock Place, between the sports fields. Facilities there are very basic, and typically we only go there for briefing and presentation.

Recommended rigging area is the beach in front of Corrigans Beach Reserve, Batehaven. There is a toilet block for changing.

Accomodation in the Batehaven area includes the "Big4 Batemans Bay Beach Resport" caravan park, with cabins and a 1 minute drive to rigging or club. Clyde View Holiday Park has beach-front cabins usually taken by big the big cats, who can keep their boat in view.

The starting procedure, course and finish lines (yes, more than one) can be confusing. Close inspection of the sailing instructions is essential.

Rod & I have enjoyed close racing there over the past 3 years, and I'm so pleased that we've both managed to lobby our respective associations to build this event. It's a fantastic place to sail. The winds, chop and swells provide a tactical challenge, and have been highly varied each year, from drifters to big blows.

The header image at Beach Cats or the above pic show the fleet last year. We're very glad to hear there'll be a separate start line for 14' cats this year.

Rumours suggest 20 Maricats, 5 Pts, 1 Nacra 14sw and a couple of Windrush would be a good turnup. The fleet has been around 90 boats in previous years; Trailer-sailors, sport boats, Sharpies, Laser, Windsurfer, Formula 18, Hobie 16 and so on.

Batemans Bay Regatta.

Just confirming what Rodney has already posted.

I have just been to the BBSC commitee meeting and there will definately be a separate start

for the 14ft Catamarans at this Anzac Regatta 9th and 10th April 2011.

If it is a success then it will become the norm.

Good luck to all, see you there. Cheers from the Bridgehugger.
