Artemis were trialling the AC45 and they cartwheeled it in 30knts.

TornadoSport260
the word is that they had stopped for a rest and a 'freak' gust got the wing powered up while the crew thought it was depowered. and over see went...
tonyquoll
Story:http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/other-sports/4684841/Americas-Cup-boat-flips-in-high-winds This America's Cup challenger was "crewed by members of Swedish challengers, Artemis Racing", whose CEO is American Paul Cayard, and the accident happened in New Zealand. And this was the Aussie prototype?
TornadoSport260
That was the ACRM prototype AC45 (americas cup racing management, i think). Basically they built 1 boat which was used as proof of design and sea trialling for the teams that have paid the initial 25,000 USD entry fee. The Aussie did sail this prototype but it belongs to race management not the aussies. The Aussies havn't ordered an AC45 yet... they still need Peter Baker to find alot of $$$ for that to happen... Jethrow
I'd be interested to know how they righted the boat. I assume they did it out in the gulf. Traditional bow over stern or some new method>
