Pointed Reply
Assuming it is an original sail number, probably about 1978-1980.
Pete
I had an all white main built for me by Flower and Adams, sail number 1369, delivered November 1979.

EarthSuit
Hi Guys, I'm new here so please be gentle. I have a Maricat 4.0s, sail No 399. Anybody got any info or ideas about the 4.0 or my cat in particular? Regards Michael
darcy1945
Most of the 4.0m boats went to hire fleets, the mk1 4.0 was not fitted with a traveller and required a vang, the mk2 sport had the rear beam with integrated traveller track, I have no idea when your boat would have been built, not that age matters with a Mari (The oldest Mari No 16, is still 1 of the best performers). Most of the raced 4.0m boats ended up with 4.3 rigs, (easier to procure 2nd hand), therefore the sail No could be of a donor boat.
Nix393
I have original sail, number 083. I'm Guessing one of the first off?
darcy1945
My guess would be 40 plus year old, if the boat is number 83 it will be a different shape (Finer bows) than current boats and may also be a few inches narrower overall. I have number 16, still going strong.
Nix393
Yeah this thing still flys, the gel coat needs a bit of attention ( already in works) Great boat, doesn't take on water, not bad for $300.

exhogger
Good score there Nix. My Mari 4.0s has rainbow sail No 469 but the big D advises that it would not be the original so who knows its exact age. Mine has the name SEAMACH BOATS cast in the upper hull. Don't know if this dates it at all as I believe the moulds passed through different manufacturers over the years. Maybe they all have this name, I don't know. Nix393
Mine has 'sea mach boats' in the hulls also, there is also a seamach sticker on the front cross bar, mine is also a 4.3. Can you get the maricat 4.3 sticker for the hulls? as I'm going to do a overhaul on the boat, repair dings and reprint ect..
darcy1945
If you are in blues territory, Mick Coalcliff is the local dealer 0419999785, if you are a cane toad (maroons), try local dealer Brisbane or your capital city.
