2013 National titles at Hervey Bay

Less than a month to go until the nationals!

Judging by the early entries it looks like we will have strong fleets of F18's,5.8's 16 sq's 4.5's and some 430's we are on track to have well over 60 Nacra's compete in the event.

Registration is on the 29th of December and sailing starts on the 30th December. Plenty of social events and a training day are planned as well.

Entry includes 12 races, t-shirts, trophies, 3 social events and training.

For those who haven't been to a national title it is a great opportunity to improve your sailing and racing skills and compare notes with other Nacra sailors on how to get the best out of your boat.

Hervey Bay is a great family destination and has much to offer non sailing family members.

For more information on the event including NOR and entry forms please see nacraqld.com.au

2013 NATIONALS

Just over a week to go until the 2013. Looks like we are going to have a fantastic event with 60 boats expected to enjoy some great sailing in a fantastic family venue.

Early weather forecasts are for perfect conditions with max temp for the first few days is 29 and minimum 20 and perhaps slightly cloudy with an occasional cooling shower.

For the first half of the week tides are high in the morning and falling during the day, so heaps of beach for lunch time breaks.

At this stage winds look like 10 to 15 North East building slightly in the afternoon.

Recent advice from locals is there have been a number of blue jelly fish in the bay (non stinging ones - just slow down boats) if you have jelly rubbers for you rudders it is worth bringing them.

BOAT STORAGE PRIOR TO THE EVENT.

For those who haven’t been to Hervey Bay before the rigging area is a public carpark beside the club house. It is a bitumen surface so you will need to bring pads - cradles for your boats. The club has security fencing which is used to secure the parking area for the duration of the regatta. At this stage the club is expecting to put up the compound up 7am on 29th of December. The club may be able to establish the compound on the 28th of December if there are enough skippers looking for storage. The club has advised that they expect they will only have sufficient space for boats with in the compound, they are making arrangements for nearby storage of trailers in the adjacent picnic park (k.a. Bill Fraser Park) to the west of the carpark. They have asked if possible to store your trailers at your accommodation. The club has offered storage for sails, spars and rigging etc. within the clubhouse during the period of the regatta.

For boats who arrive earlier than the 29th, Paul Hebinger has arranged access to a secure compound with high fencing and lighting behind the Scarness Hotel from the 26th of December and earlier if needed. He has asked if anyone needs access to this compound could they contact him directly before travelling to Hervey Bay. His contact details are:

EVENT REGISTRATION

For those who have not registered for the event it would be of tremendous help to us if you could send us some notification that you are going to attend (even if you are not 100% sure you are coming). This will help use finalise number for events and allow us to pre register you so your beach registration is quicker. If you could send me an email or text letting me know skipper crew and boat details and if you have extras for any of the events would be appreciated email treasurer@nacraqld.com.au or text to 0438723079.

For beach registration we would prefer if payment could be either cheque or card (we will have EFTPOS facilities at registration), cash is OK but the former would be preferable.

To compete in the event you must be a member of the Nacra Association. Please make sure your membership is up to date prior to the event (we will also be accepting membership applications at the event if required). You will also need to have your silver card details with you and a current insurance policy on your boat. For more details on what is required please see the notice of race at http://nacraqld.com.au/index.php?p=1_13.
