catsailor.net
It was also getting to the point that people were abusing each other and using language that should not be used on the forum... I removed it.
Scott
It must have been "Hygroscopic" and absorbed back into the wide world of the net! (Boats would of have to been left submerged in water to gain 30-40kgs)

REV YUKKA II
that is a shame as i didn't get to read the last few posts, i believe that somone mentioned that we should have a min class weight. i would have liked to have read that post. iwould also like to put some boats over the scales at the nationals so we can see what if any differences there are in them then we can put the debate to bed or make a change if we need too. I couldn't agree more that all Nacra sailers / association members should sit down and have a serious debate on a minimum class boat weight (at least for national and state level events). The nationals in Brisbane over new years would be a good opportunity to do this and at least we would know in future who is the better sailer as opposed to has the lightest boat. dryzabone 644
Well, how's this sound We should make the boats as light as we can and agree on a min boat+crew weight for racing. I'd love to see souped up, carbon fibre 5.8s on the market to enjoy socially ... If we then had a minimum crew+boat weight for racing we would have a true level sailing field Mitch PS ... Might have to rob a bank or two though [This message has been edited by dryzabone 644 (edited 06 December 2006).]
Emmessee
That is fine and most agree it would be great overall, but that would make a 5.8 cost about 35-40k and I do not think that any of us want that. The weight they are now is good as they are almost indestructable and last and last and last as we are seeing. Have a test regatta before deciding anything and think twice before doing nothing for a long time. All classes age and a new boat is always going to have an advantage over a 20 year old boat. It is something we all have to live with.

REV YUKKA II
i think that we should put the 5.8's over the scales it would be good. dryzabone " boat + crew weight" carn't do that it makes for movable balest not fair. we have a min crew weight of 140kg for 5.8. there should also be min boat weight say 165kg. if you min crew weight is less than 140kg then you need to add that weight too 165kg boat to bring it up. what this means is if your crew weight was 135kg then your boat weight needs to be 170kg. so if you had an old boat that was 180kg then you would not have to add weight. as happened to redback in the last nationals. they had a boat that was 20kg heavier than all the other boats and then had to put 2kg on that as well to make up for crew weight 138kg, hence we have lost that boat and crew for this year. which is a shame but i can understand there feeling's and think that what happened to them last year was a joke.
